Alaska Kingfisher Lodge fishing report August 4th – 6th, 2017 located on Prince of Wales island, Craig Alaska. We are now in our last month of our guide and lodge service and this past three days was exceptional with all boats landing limits of Kings, Coho and halibut. The fish are all of respectable size with our largest King salmon at 33 pounds, largest Coho 15 pounds, largest halibut 121 pounds! All lodge and charter boats in the Craig area are mostly landing limits of Coho and many are landing limits of King salmon as well. Soon to change on the King salmon as the Commercial troll fleet will have a King salmon opener in the next week, just not sure of the dates. Weather has been exceptional with one day reaching high 70’s, little wind on the ocean so our last day was very nice on the water. The last day was exceptional for King salmon after limiting on King salmon we landed a total of 18 Kings trying to get our limit of Coho’s which we eventually did. Check out our Facebook page for more pictures and look forward to seeing all those folks coming here in the next few weeks. Crossing our fingers, saying our prayers that the weather and fishing remain good! Thanks for reading my reports.
Prince of Wales sportfishing report for August 4th in Craig Alaska at Kingfisher Charters & Lodge. Leaving the dock today with 10 fishermen in two boats the Trinity guided by Captain Joel Steenstra left for Diamond Pt. and arriving landed a nice king salmon. The Trinity continued on to the Tree hole and continued to land fish both king and silver in good numbers limiting on both species as well as halibut. The Jeanette Elaine went on to the Tree hole as well landing 2 king salmon and the limit of silver salmon as well. Catching appears to be slower but persistant fishing has been paying off with limits.
June 21st at Kingfisher Lodge near Craig Alaska started by the “Nebraska Hookers” departing for Nebraska and the Jeff Wiper group arriving from Washington and California. They had planned on a half day fishing once they arrived so we left the dock at about 11 am and headed west to “Hog Rock” off St. Joseph island west of Prince of Wales island. We arrived to the lee side of the island after bucking a stiff westerly wind. Dropping in we immediatley started catching silver salmon, then a few kings. After the boats all left the king salmon really started biting and we had a few doubles and maybe a tripple hookup on King salmon. We landed 20 silver salmon and 10 king salmon in the 3 hour fishing trip. Off to a great start of their 3 day trip.
