Prince of Wales sportfishing report for Kingfisher lodge in Craig Alaska on August 11th was a slow down on coho salmon which translates into a grind or pick working for limits. King salmon were still available to some anglers with a possible average of one per boat. Today we left the dock at our 5 am departure and went to the Tree hole picking up a handfull of coho’s and a few king salmon between both boats or 10 fishermen for a few hours fishing. We went to a few spots picking up one or two silver salmon here and there but in the end Captain Joel on the Trinity found a nice batch of fish finishing his limit of Coho’s in a few hours time. We followed over in the Jeanette Elaine and landed more ourselves and one nice king salmon for a total of 18 silvers and 3 king salmon for our boat and Joels boat landed 30 silver salmon and one king salmon. Halibut fishing we landed our limits and a small selection of sea bass as well. So today ends the third day for this group mostly from Idaho…until next year and we appreciate the group of guys coming to fish with us. See you in June we hope!
Prince of wales sportfishing report from Kingfisher Charters and Lodge in Craig Alaska on August 9th. Today we had 10 fishermen out in 2 boats leaving the dock at our Alaska Lodge in Craig at 5 am we headed for Diamond Pt. and started landing silvers although not a fast bite we ended up with 20 coho, one king, and one halibut between two boats before leaving for the outer coast. Fishing the Tree we picked up our remaining silvers and another king salmon. Halibut fishing was good also landing some nice 37″ regulation halibut along with half a limit of black sea bass. We tried one more spot landing one more king and some silvers before heading back to the lodge. Thus ended the day with limits of Coho’s, and halibut for both boats and 3 king salmon for the group. Weather was sunny skies and NW winds at 20 knots.
June 22nd we had a total of 11 guests with the Jeff Wiper group and the Scott Wetstone/Al Hansen group all regular guests at Kingfisher Lodge in Craig. Jeff’s group fishing on the Jeanette Elaine with myself, and Scott, Al, and the boys fishing with Joel on the Trinity. Day one started out with Blake as a guide for the Trinity as Joel could not guide that day. Blake went to the Tree spot, catching for them was hot right off the start landing kings and silvers. The Jeanette Elaine had gone to Hog rock hoping for a replay of the previous day’s fishing but that wasn’t happening so we headed for the tree and started catching. The Trinity group was ahead of our boat catching and they finished with their limit of king salmon and silver salmon early in the morning. We continued on and ended up landing 3 or 4 king salmon and limits of silver salmon and halibut as well but arrived at the dock later than the Trinity group.
