Alaska sport fishing report for Kingfisher Lodge, Craig, Prince of Wales Island, Alaska.  August 17th we left the lodge with light winds, slightly choppy water, overcast skies, and a weather outlook of 20 knot winds and 8 foot seas. We made it to the outside of Noyes island with flat water and 15 knot or less wind speed and with the seine fleet out we were not sure what to expect but when we got to fishing it had for sure slowed down. We did land 2 King salmon and lost one and Joel landed 3 and a few silvers for starters. After a few hours of releasing many halibut having only 1 silver and two Kings on the boat it was time to head some where else as I felt the seiners were just going to continue to deplete what fish was there. We headed off as Joel stayed

put and we got a bit beat up getting to our destination,  once we got there I talked to Joel and he said they started biting and had 22 Coho in the box…. so I thought well I screwed up, but before long we had our limit of Coho’s. We then went off shore for halibut. When we got there the seas were not too bad so started fishing but by the time we got done there were 8′ seas with 20 plus knots of wind on them…not too much fun and one of the guys started chumming and soon we had what we thought was a big halibut but after a half hour Dave landed a nice 5′ Skate or Ray. We let it go and after landing a limit of small halibut headed for home. Captain Joel and his group limited on Silvers, got 3 Kings salmon and a really nice limit of Halibut.
