June 23rd at Kingfisher Lodge started the same as many days leaving the dock at 5 am but would end much different. Both boats arrived at the tree again and right off the silvers and kings were biting. The Trinity ended up landing 6 king salmon very soon and had 14 or so silver salmon as well by early on. Scott Wetstone had landed a 48.2 pound king salmon (6 hours later) which was the largest for him and for the group as a whole in I believe the 14 years of fishing salmon together. The Jeanette Elaine ended up landing their limit of silver salmon, 5 king salmon, halibut, and went on as the ocean was very nice to land their ling cod and yellow eye (snapper). What a day both boats had with limits of salmon, halibut, bottom fish, and a whopper king salmon for Scott and his group.

July 19th

Jerry, Jean, Kent, colleen, Al, & Sharon

July 19th fishing report for the prince of wales island area of Craig Alaska for king salmon, silver salmon, halibut and bottom fish remains strong. Limits can be had in all species as fish are plentiful and weather conditions are good enough for fishing in most waters if the fishermen have medium hardy stomachs.  Todays king salmon were nice average size of 26 pounds for our two boats with coho salmon having a 7 pound average. Halibut are kept to the 37″ rule put into action by the IPHC. Visiting fishermen who come to the Craig area for fishing vacations are pleased for the most part as the salmon are in good numbers and plenty of bottom fish to satisfy most anglers. Weather has been a big help as well as it has remained a pretty stable system throughout the summer except for the 4th of July’s storm.

June 6

Monday morning had continuing west wind at 25 knots building to 30 knots in the afternoon making fishing a bit difficult but with the sun out and the fish biting it made it a great day. Halibut fishing was tough though since we were limited to our options and were not interested in fighting the ocean conditions. Limits for salmon were completed by late morning landing 11 kings the largest being in the 25 lb. class.
