Craig Alaska Fishing Report. 8th of June 2025
June 8, 2025
Another go around of guests have come and gone from Kingfisher Lodge here in Craig, Alaska. King Salmon fishing is still very good even though patience is crucial. The second day we experienced a really slow morning with very few to no bites at all. About 3 hours into the morning all hell broke lose which resulted in several triples and quads. Also it seemed like some nicer run kings moved in, many hovering around the 20 lbs mark.
King Salmon fishing is still good and all groups went home with limits of King Salmon and we hope it stays that way
Bad weather again halted some boats from going off-shore resulting to halibut fishing in “inside waters”. Fishing for halibut on the inside is still very slow with bites being few and far between. However halibut fishing off-shore seems to picked up a little with the boats coming in with some nice catches.

Captain Braden had the fortune to guide the Richard Nielson group which happened to have 3 Alaska residents. Alaska residents are able to keep 1 King Salmon per day unlike non-resident who are at 1 king salmon per year. Also they can keep 1 lingcod of any size as well as Yelloweye rockfish. Captain Braden made sure to take advantage of the situation and put his guests on a very nice catch. This also included a GAF halibut measuring 59″ caught by Logan Nielson.

Now everybody at Kingfisher Lodge is fortunate to enjoy 2 days without fishing in order relax and recover before our next groups come in. We hope the weather patterns change as it has been an unusually wet and windy start to the season even for this neck of the woods.
