Craig Alaska Fishing Report. 28th of August, 2025
August 28, 2025
Let’s start off by talking about the weather. Holy cow have we been fortunate as of late, over the past week or so we have seen temps in the 70s with very little wind and flat calm waters. Fairly unusual for us, but at the same time we can not complain. It has been thoroughly enjoyable both for guests and crew.
Now on to the fishing. Silver Salmon fishing is still steady. Limits are being caught by the boats in about 2-4 hours depending on the day. I would say for being this late in the season it seems like the run of Silver Salmon is still running pretty strong.
King Salmon seems to have taken a little bit of a downturn with no boats getting King Salmon with our last groups. Again this is normal for this time of year as we are way past the peak season for King Salmon.
Halibut fishing is still stellar when the boats are able to hit the outside waters. The inside waters takes more time and patience before a limit is had. I would say halibut fishing on the inside is a bit slower than normal for this time of year. Normally the halibut will follow the humpies into the inside waters and very good fishing can be had on the inside, but this year seems different.
Yelloweye and lingcod stays really good when the boats have time to target them and have weather allowing them to hit the outside waters. Yelloweye is now closed for the season and only lingcod can be retained.
We are now down to our last groups with a total of 16 people coming fishing. Lets hope we can end the season on a high note both in terms of fishing as well as the weather.
