Fishing

Prince of Wales Island Fishing Report, 3rd of September 2025.

This write up sure is bittersweet. Mainly because it will be our last fishing report of the season. Our final groups have come and gone and what a season it has been.

Silver Salmon fishing stayed good all through the second half of the season. I believe all boats caught most of their limits every day out on the waters. For the last group there was no exception. In fact the catch rate improved over the three days with limits getting caught the fastest on the last day of fishing. There also was a few King Salmon that were hitting the dock.

Halibut fishing stayed excellent. Limits were caught everyday by all boats.

Unfortunately Yelloweye Rockfish was shut down for the season but lingcod was open for retention. Boats did fairly well on lingcod mainly if the guests wanted to target them or not.

We would like to take the chance to thank all the guests that have come and fished with us this season. We all appreciate you coming up to Craig, Alaska and making Kingfisher Charters & Lodge your Alaska fishing experience. Again, thank you for being a part of making the summer of 25′ one to remember.

It has been one busy summer. But we truly enjoy what we do. We will now go ahead breakdown the lodge for the winter. After that most of us will enjoy some much needed relaxation whether it is a vacation or a hunting trip.
