Fishing report Kingfisher Charters & Lodge in Craig, Alaska. 28th of May, 2026

After a long winter we are finally back with the 2026 season right around the corner. I wanted to give a little update in regards to the fishing as well as some other news.

I hope everybody got the great news that King Salmon limits for non-residents is back to 3 King Salmon annually. This means our guests are allowed 1 King Salmon per day for their 3 day trip. Unfortunately last years lower regulations has affected the industry with slower than usual business, specially in June. We still have open spots available for the first 2 weeks in June. So anybody who would like to book a last minute fishing trip, please reach out. Contact information can be found on the website.

King Salmon fishing has been pretty good for the last few months. We were contacted by a research group that had gotten a permit to tag 100 King Salmon with GPS tracking devices to get data on the migration paths of the salmon. Captain Braden stepped up to the plate and was able to catch all 100 King Salmon in 20 days of fishing. The research group had attempted this before but this was the first time, all 100 King Salmon were caught.

Today a scouting trip was performed as we are preparing to welcome our first group. It is group of 6 people from the Wounded Warriors foundation that we donate a trip to each year. The scouting trip was pretty slow at first by checking spots that could potentially hold King Salmon. By 11 AM there were still no fish on the boat, but it all ended on a good note. The day also gave us the opportunity to catch our “sea legs” as the water conditions were in a less desirable condition.
