Fishing Report for Prince of Wales Island, 7th of June 2026.
June 7, 2026
Another three days of fishing have gone by. Here is my take on the fishing out of Craig, Alaska at the moment. The majority of King Salmon fishing is concentrated around Noyes Island. These past few days we were dealing very unfavorable big ebb tides in the morning. Making it hard to find an early morning bite. It seemed like the fish bit better after the late morning tide change in general.
We had Richard Neilsen here with friends and family. Brian, Logan and Nathan are all residents from Soldotna allowing us a bit more liberal regulations. This includes 2 kings per day per person, 1 yelloweye person, as well as 1 any sized lingcod per day per person.
First day we were still trying to catch our sea legs, it took some a little bit longer than others that rendered some of our fishermen making some sacrifices to the sea. But all in all it was a pretty successful day in the end. The sealion paid us a visit and stole one of our King Salmon that we had hooked on to.

Day 2 started of slow again. With one king here and one there. We did have some exciting times mooching with a triple, landing all 3 fish. Also we had successful GAF fishing.

Day three started of really slow with only two kings by 9.30. That was with a 4.30 departure. we changed our plan and went for bottom fish to go back to the salmon fishing after. The plan worked as we finished of with 5 kings landed in the afternoon. This included a triple and a double hook up.

To summarize I feel like King Salmon fishing is slow to fair. The unfavorable tides in the morning are not doing us fisherman any favors. We are hoping as the tide change is moving in the next few days, it will bring better fishing in the morning. The halibut fishing is good. Getting limits in a fairly short amount of time. They also seem to be very healthy thick ones in the perfect 32″-34″ range.
