Fishing Report, Kingfisher Charters and Lodge in Craig, Alaska. 16th of September, 2026
September 16, 2026
After long overdue here comes our final fishing report of the season. Coho Salmon fishing stayed Good until the end. Some days were a bit slower than others but most days except for a few exceptions the boats were able to catch their limits.

Bottom fishing was also good throughout the last week. Even though were pretty limited in what species we were allowed to keep due to regulations which left us with only halibut and black bass.
To summarize the season.
End of May thru June was tougher than normal for King Salmon fishing. Even though the boats out of Kingfisher were very successful on most days compared to the rest of the fleet we were getting reports of boats coming in with 0-2 King Salmon per boat.
July was also very different. As the Coho run was very late, the guides decided to stick to King Salmon fishing where as most of the fleet were chasing coho Salmon. As the limits for King Salmon increased throughout the month of July it was a wise choice. But it also entailed being in some pretty rough waters as the King Salmon were mainly in the outside waters.
August. They were sure late but when the Coho Salmon finally arrived they were big. The numbers of Coho Salmon that showed up were in the normal amounts but the average size was a lot bigger than normal.
Bottom fishing was really good throughout the whole season for all species such as halibut, lingcod, black bass and yelloweye rockfish.
