Prince of Wales sport fishing report for Kingfisher Lodge, Craig Alaska July 18th 2019
June 18, 2019
The sportfishing report for the west Prince of Wales island area off Craig Alaska for the past 3 days showed an increase in salmon in the area especially after a much needed rain. On the 3rd day of the trip after a good rain the Coho and King salmon appeared in larger numbers off the inside waters of Noyes island. The first two days we didn’t get much rain but the evening of the second day it rained a good amount and the next morning the Silver or Coho salmon were abundant and limits were caught by most charter boats in the Craig area during the day and it appeared the trollers were also catching better as they passed by the sport boats. Bottom fishing remains steady.
Fishing report for Kingfisher Lodge, Craig Alaska July 4th, 2019
Fishing report for the 1st of July thru the 11th of July at Kingfisher Lodge on Prince of Wales island Alaska. The past week has been very good for King salmon and a big grade of Kings have been getting caught off Noyes island in the regular spots although for us the Cape has been our go to spot each day and haven’t been down to the Rock pile or Pineapple rock for quite some time since we are getting what we need before having to go down. Coho’s have been sprinkling in to the area mostly off shore but some making there way inside although the most we have got on one boat is 11 I believe in a day for one boat. Yesterday we got our Kings very quickly landing 15 Kings in an hour for 3 boats and then later landing and releasing 5 more off shore while coho fishing on my boat. We only landed 5 Coho or Silvers yesterday on our boat and the other boats landing 10 or so between 2 boats, but lost a few as well. The Kings were nice though averaging 25 pounds the largest at 29 pounds.
Halibut fishing has been picking up as well and bottom fishing remains good too in the Craig, Prince of Wales area. Thanks for reading the report and look forward to seeing those coming up this summer, everyone has been having a great time this summer with very calm and warm weather so far……we are hoping it continues although we need some heavy rain for the streams as we had very little snow pack in the mountains this winter.
