Fishing

Kingfisher Charters, Craig Alaska Fishing Report. 17th of June, 2026.

Another three fishing days have gone by since my last report. Unfortunately it will not be a very positive one. King Salmon fishing is very slow. I keep getting intel of boats comin in with 1 fish or worst case scenario, no King Salmon.

We had lady luck on our side. But it was not all luck. There was a lot of hard work and determination behind it. Also the guests were willing to brave the seas that were less than desirable. We were able to limit out on Kings each day. Most days started very slow due to giant ebb tides (16 feet) in the morning that are not favorable for a morning bite. All three days we spent close to 6 hours of fishing to get a limit of King Salmon. But considering the conditions we were very grateful for what we got.

Halibut fishing is good. This group had 2 GAF tags and we were able to connect on a 63″ fish on day 2, and on day 3 we struck out on the first location but moved to a different one. 5 minutes before we were going to call defeat and head home, Jake McIntyre hooks into a big fish. He fought it for 55 minutes before we were able to tag it. It ended up being a very thick 61″ halibut that was hooked in the gut making it seem more like 75″ fish. Regardless we were very grateful being able to end the trip on a high note.

Unfortunately the forecast looks a little bit rough here in the near future but we hope it can clear up, also we really hope some King Salmon start showing up in numbers sooner rather than later.
