Fishing

Craig, Alaska Fishing Report. 21st of June, 2026.

Here is a more recent fishing report out of Craig, Alaska. We had another 3 days of fishing go by.

Day 1 we were blessed with good waters. Both boats had to work for the King Salmon but it ended up successful with only 1 king Salmon short. With it being a Thursday and hence closed for “keeper” halibut (1 per person per day less than 34″) we had our focus on other types of Bottom fish as well as GAF halibut.

Day 2 we had some pretty heavy Northwest winds up 30 mph limiting us to areas where we could fish. Again both boats worked hard and were able to limit out on King Salmon and Halibut.

Day 3 the winds persisted but yet again the boats were able to be successful bringing in limits of King Salmon and Halibut.

To summarize, the fishing for King Salmon is still slow. Still being on the tail end of a a big tide cycle along with bad weather has made the fishing very tough. Many boats in the fleet are coming home with no King Salmon at all. On the bright side we have some better weather moving in. Also we are hearing that the fishing out of Sitka improved a while back. Historically it is just a matter of time until those fish find their way down here.

Bottom fishing is staying consistent. Halibut are more weather dependent in the sense if we can fish on the outside or not. One of the days, one boat fished for them on the inside with success which is a good sign that they are moving in on the inside. Lingcod in general we have to work for. Not in the sense that they are not there but more having to find them in the very small slot of 30″ to 35″.
