Fishing

Craig Alaska charter fishing report for Kingfisher Lodge July 17th 2021.

Sport fishing report for Kingfisher Lodge on Prince of Wales island near Craig Alaska for the past three days of the dates above. King salmon fishing remains steady with most all boats landing the one fish limit per customer without much problem. There seem to be King salmon in good numbers with some nicer fish showing up in the 30 and up to 50 pound class although we here at Kingfisher haven’t landed any the past three days much over 25 pounds. Coho salmon are coming in at a somewhat steady rate it seems. I can’t speak for other Craig charter boats as far as limits of Coho salmon goes but we have some of our boats landing limits on some days and other days coming in short depending on the day. It seems there are salmon almost everywhere a person goes just not in big numbers consistently, and we mark many fish on the sounder but they are a bit finicky especially in shallow water say under 50 feet.

Halibut fishing has remained steady and we have been landing some nice 50 inch and less size halibut this summer and not sure how long that will last but so far its been pretty good. Our GAF program has been landing fair size fish as well but the largest was 73 inches which any fish over 72 is outside the slot limit and legal to keep without the GAF tag. Photo’s below show some nice catches. Look forward to seeing our upcoming customers.
