Fishing

Fishing Report Prince of Wales Island, Alaska. 14th of July, 2026.

We had three days of really nice weather which was a nice change. The fishing however continues to be trying. There are King Salmon running but being at the right spot at the right time has never been more important. Also a little luck does not hurt.

The three boats came in with mixed results that reflects how the fishing is. We did see some nice King Salmon hit the dock. 2 that weighed in at 30 lbs and one that tipped scale right at 40 lbs.

On the last day one boat was able to bring in 8 cohos. We truly hope that they start flushing in now. The one thing that is a little bit worrisome is that those Silver Salmon did not look like they came from our local hatchery. More than likely they were heading towards Canada. We should see our local coho’s show up in good number any day now. Specially now when are going to see some big tide cycles which can really flush them in.

Bottom fishing continues to be excellent for halibut, lingcod, yelloweye and black bass.
