Sport fishing report for Prince of Wales Island, Alaska. 5th of June 2025
June 5, 2025
After a long hiatus, we are going to try to keep you up to speed on how fishing is going for the 2025 fishing season here in Craig, Alaska.
We have just said goodbye to our first groups for the season. It started off a bit rough as many of the guests had issues in their travel along with pretty bad weather the first couple of days making it very cold, wet and windy.
However, this did not slow us down as all the groups tagged out on their king salmon limits by varying techniques between mooching and trolling. At the moment, it seems like the kings are a bit tide sensitive, and having a line in the water at the right time is crucial. Considering the low abundance index of king salmon this year the numbers we are seeing are very positive thus far.
The halibut fishing has started off to a slower than normal with our captains having to work a bit harder, and longer in order to catch nice turkey sized keepers. Also, the weather has been limiting fishing to certain areas.

An extra big congatulations to Guy Lenny who caught a nice 30 lbs king salmon.
