Sportfishing report from Kingfisher Charter & Lodge in Craig, Alaska. 10th of July, 2026
July 10, 2026
The trying times keep being trying. Not only is King Salmon fishing fairly slow, we were hit with some pretty bad weather these last 3 days. All in all it turned out fine with all guests getting their King Salmon and we were able to land 3 Gaf halibut between the three boats.

The slow fishing on the inside along with bad weather resulted in some slower days for the boats. The ones that were able to get on the outside found some better fishing.

What is a bit alarming are the reports or lack thereof regarding Coho. One boat spent some time on the last day looking around for Cohos without any success. We are coming up to that time period when we should start seeing them in good numbers. I am not sure if the water temps have anything to do with it as they are still pretty low for this time of year. Also normally we can find them early offshore and due to the weather we have not been able to look for them out there. But like I said it should happen here any day now.

The forecast for the next 3 days look a lot better. So lets hope the fishing starts picking up and that the Silver Salmon start showing up some good numbers.
