Fishing

Craig Alaska sport fishing report for Kingfisher Lodge August 20th thru the 23rd.

Prince of Wales sport fishing report for Kingfisher Lodge and the Craig area for the 3rd week of August 2020. Salmon fishing or Coho fishing was more difficult for most boats in the Craig charter fleet although some boats did well some days they did poorly on others. New fish are constantly moving in as they make their way to the Klawock and surrounding streams but the run is definitely down from the past few years returns. The silver salmon or Coho’s our boats caught were accomplished through long days of mooching or “grinding” away for partial to sometimes full limits. As the photo’s show there were not limits in these pictures. Halibut fishing has been pretty quick but the boats are having to run off shore for them. Captain Nils Backstrome landed his last two GAF for the season with the largest one at 68″ and 135 pounds. We will have the next group time off due to cancellations in regards to the Corona virus so our next and last group arrives on Friday the 28th.
Thanks for reading the reports and those coming fishing on Prince of Wales we wish you the best of luck, but be prepared for rain as it has been one wet summer.
